Ex-boyfriend harassing and threatening. What action can I take?

I was in love with a guy earlier and the relationship broke down a year ago. There was physical contact. Now my proposal is fixed with other person and I am interested in marrying the person. The fact that the person with whom I was in a relationship was not a well mannered person and his is a threatening nature which I came to know later. I decided to end the relationship and broke down the same. Now he has started threatening me saying that he will not allow to marry the person with whom my proposal is fixed. How can I get the solution to the problem? Can me and the boy whose proposal is accepted can go for court marriage?
There is actually no such thing as Court marriage, The registered marriage is what many people refer to as court marriage, and you can get a registered marriage done at the sub-registrar of marriages of your state, ( is it Karnataka ? ).

You give the complaint in police station,then he never come.,basically had a Phisical contact was there ..on this basis he harassing and give you trouble again and again..that's why ?first thinng you give complaint in police station then,they are take the action of your problem.,

Better you lodge a complaint in any Women Police station and ask them to take appropriate action against the person who is harassing you.
In the station, with the help of police, take undertaking that he will not disturb in your personal life.
If it not, he may become a problem in your future life. Take necessary action against him now itself to avoid the future problem
