How to be saved from mental harassment inflicted by mother in law

10-Dec-2023 (In Family Law)
I got married in 2012,it is a love marriage. My in laws and parents knew each other so both accepted the proposal. My in laws kept on mentally harrassing me since then.In 2014 I was pregnant and soon as they knew they started putting unneccessary additional work and kept tonting me.It used to be very depressing and lead to a miscarrige at 7 weeks. So me and my husband decided to live separate near our offc with reason that docs have adviced me not to travel. We shifted and then in 2016 I delivered a baby boy,my mother in law came with her extended family to see child and went on saying bad things about me and child in front of all guests. We still ignored her. Now when my child is 1 and half she is continuously behind me to send child to her so that he gets used to leave without me. I do not see any reason to do so but she has started emotionaly blackmailing my husband to come back to them with child. She creates misunderstandings between us and ask him to get the child. Pls advice.

Dear mentally harassed,

Since you are sure that your husband is not involved with your mother-in-law to harass you, it is advisable that we initiate proceedings under the law of domestic violence against your mother-in-law only before the nearest Magistrate's court.

Your claim should be a protection order from your in-laws, a residence order restraining them from entering your house, a custody order declaring the child's custody to be with you and a certain amount of compensation from your in-laws, if so desired by you.

Also we would require certain proofs of your harassment such as any pictures of your injuries caused by them, the medical reports for your miscarriage, any text messages from them to you which may be of a harassing nature etc.
