Father in law causing harassment to me, my husband and children
11-May-2023 (In Family Law)
Me, my husband & 2 girls aged 24 & 19 live with my husband's father aged 84. My husband is only son. His mother died of cancer in 1994. Our house is in name of my husband's father & mother. From start we invested everything in this house, including my parent's gift for my wedding, built up higher floors, renovated & maintaining it, meet all house hold expenses from our salary & earnings. My father in law always dominates over all of us, shouts, verbally abuses for no reasons & do not respect our individuality. He belittles all of us & has even beaten me in front of my girls.
My elder daughter is on treatment for an endocrine illness from birth. My father in law calls her worthless. She suffers mental agony due to his verbal torture & is terrified to let me go to work. My husband requested him to stop harassing & his father does not agree, says if we question, he will give away this property maintained by us, to others, not to his son.
Is there any solution or legal protection for us?
Dear Madam,
Before your father in executes any document you must keep all the originals with you. File case against him. It should not be known to him. Your husband must be dummy defendant .There are so many ideas for you to protect your property provided your husband supports you.

You can seek for protection under DV act. Under DV act you can also sue your inlaws if they harass you in their respective place.
Further you informed that the property is in joint name of your in laws. When such being situation after death of mother in law, her a portion of share will fallen to your son also. Therefore untill otherwise the rights over property legally biforgated, he cant sell whole property.
In the above legal question you have sought for protection. If such harrsment is there file a complaint before jurisdictional women police station and soughtprotection.
Before need discussion. If you required legal assistence, you can contact us or contact known advocate.

yes you can file a case of domestic violence and as you said you also have invested in the property, further you say that the property is in name of your mother in law and father in law, and as you have stated that the mother in law has expired, hence your husband has a share in the property, hence just get the name of your husband in property by deleting the name of your mother in law, and further file a case of domestic violence and also ask for protection order to remain away from you and your family , further take an order not to sell, mortgage the properties standing in the name of your father in law and mother in-law.
