Changing the date of birth on a passport in India typically requires a legal process and the submission of relevant documents to the passport authorities. Here are the steps involved in changing the date of birth on a passport:
  1. Affidavit: You need to prepare an affidavit stating the correct date of birth along with the reason for the correction. This affidavit should be made on non-judicial stamp paper and notarized. The affidavit should mention the old date of birth and the correct date of birth.
  2. Supporting Documents: Collect supporting documents to prove your correct date of birth. This may include your birth certificate, school leaving certificate, PAN card, Aadhaar card, etc. Ensure that these documents clearly show the correct date of birth.
  3. Visit Passport Office: Visit the nearest Passport Seva Kendra or Passport Office. You will need to make an appointment online and fill out the passport application form. In the application form, provide the correct date of birth.
  4. Submit Documents: At the Passport Seva Kendra or Passport Office, submit your affidavit, supporting documents, and the filled-out application form. Make sure to carry photocopies of all documents.
  5. Police Verification: Passport authorities may conduct police verification as part of the process. Be available for verification as and when required.
  6. Pay Fees: Pay the requisite fees for the correction of date of birth. The fees can vary depending on the type of passport and urgency of the correction.
  7. Wait for Approval: The passport authorities will review your application and documents. If everything is in order, your request for a correction will be approved.
  8. Receive Updated Passport: Once your request is approved, you will receive a new passport with the corrected date of birth. You may need to surrender your old passport.
  9. Update Other Documents: After receiving the corrected passport, make sure to update the correct date of birth on other official documents like Aadhaar, PAN card, and voter ID.
It's important to note that the process may take some time, and the time frame for receiving the corrected passport can vary. Keep track of your application status online through the Passport Seva website.
If you face any challenges during the process or have specific questions about your case, it is advisable to consult with a legal professional or visit the official Passport Seva website for the most up-to-date information and guidelines.
