What to do when someone files a police complaint against you?

You can indeed file a counter-complaint against someone who files a false First Information Report (FIR) against you. You can submit written evidence proving that the complaint against you was false to the police station in which it was filed. 10 May 2023

Hello,
In my opinion only a complaint must have been filed against you and on that complaint police didn't lodge the FIR, sometimes they try to talk to the other person before registering the FIR.
Another possibility is that the FIR for a non cognizable offence must have been filed and the case got registered, and to complete the formalities police are asking you to come before them so that they could present you before the magistrate.
