Get complaint number at Police Commissioner office

22-Apr-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Local Police station has made no progress on my case. I want to complain at Police Commissioner office. When I submit my complaint on paper, can I ask for complaint number? At local Police station, complaint is entered in Police diary and complaint number is provided. But, I would like to follow up with my complaint at Police Commissioner office. So, can I ask for a separate complaint number?

If you wish to have exact complaint number for follow up then you should file complaint through online portal. If even after complaint to commissioner action is not taken then you may file a complaint before the magistrate

Cheating is a cognizable offense in strict legal terms. In such cases, Section 154 CrPC allows the filing of an FIR with the SHO at a police station. You can approach the Police station in question and file your FIR. The SHO will register and investigate the case.

Dear Sir / Madam,

You can write a letter to The Police Commissioner for faster adjudication of your complaint as you feel that your complaint is not adjudicated properly.

Secondly yes you can follow up with the Police Commissioner.

Lastly you can also register a complaint against the said Police Office before Police Complaint Authority (PCA) if he is bot fulfilling his obligations on his duty and / or not co-operating with you on your complaint.

Thanks & Regards,
