sending divorce paper with your signature only works in movies not real life. divorce is a judicial proceeding which happens in a court of law and until you get a decree of divorce you are liable as a husband.

Until and unless you get the Decree of Divorce ( through mutual consent or through contest) from the competent Court of Law, you can't legally withdraw yourself from the role of husband. If you wish to take my Legal opinion professionally upon online payment, then can contact.

You wife has left matrimonial home for 1 year and your Son is with you.
Only by filling divorce petition before the Ld. Court you can obtain divorce.
Wha you need is a technical lawyer for the ends of justice.

no. you must have to obtain degree of divorce from the competent court by filing divorce petition. there is two options you my file mutual divorce or normal divorce petition by making your wife opposite party but without these proceding there is no option to you to withdrae yourself from the role of Husband. there is some ways by which you can defend your self from future complications. Thank you.
