I don't want my husband's surname with my child, can it be a problem ?

I was 3 months pregnant when I got to know my husband demanded money from my parents..v had a fight n I left his house..since then he never called me..can I raise the child alone without using his surname?? What legal obstacles can I face??

You can apply for divorce and can use your sir name or simply you can change your child name sir name as per your wish by publishing in newspaper

Have you obtained a divorce from your husband? Nevertheless you will have to mention the name of the father wherever required. Otherwise now in most of the places the name of the mother is required to be filled up. Yes you can definitely raise your child on your own if there is no dispute with regard to custody of the child.

You are free to use or to not use his surname. Technically, he still remains the father of your child and continue to be the same unless you officially separate from him. However, having said that you're free to not use his surname, it shouldn't be creating any legal problem.

You have not given full details of your case. First of all it is necessary to know whether you are earning your lovely hood. Secondly have you taken divorce if not then still you are his wife legally. In that your husband is still the father of child. So please briefly convey ur details so as to get proper advice

yes. it is your choice to have his father surname with your child. there is no law which compels a married women to have her husband surname as her surname. similarly you may decide not to have your husband surname with your child. if you have decided to leave your husband there are other several legal remedies available to you to claim other rights from your husband regarding maintenance, property etc.
