False complaint filed. Police threatened me to write statement.

20-Apr-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I was involved in a verbal altercation in my college. The other person then filed a complaint with the college authority and the investigation was undergoing. They made false accusations against me ranging from threat to life, me hitting them to hegemony but they have no proof against me as it never happened. While this investigation was undergoing, they made a complaint with the police and then they started harrassing me. A female SI(I'm male) made me sign a statement accepting all the charges by threatening me in various ways like my career will be destroyed and even threatened to arrest me without any proof. They didn't hear my side of the story and constantly accused me of hitting and threatening the said person. I was not given any copy or told what the complaint was. I wanna know if I have any way of defending myself now. I have a recording of the police threatening me. They had a backdated letter by the person as this took place last month and police work started 2 days back.

First of all you need not worry. Even if the police officials have got your signatures in the statement that will never be admissible. And if you have got the recording of that police officer then you can also file a complaint against her also before the DCP & ACP of your area. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

That's unfortunate! nevermind! such atrocities by the police personnel shall be treated in a serious manner. When the police do act which is contrary to their duty then they can be prosecuted as per law and be scrapped from their job. For the complaint you have two options either approach the magistrate under section 156(3) for monitoring the investigation or approach High Court under 482 for staying of the investigation against you. Further, you can approach the COmmissioners office and file the complaint against police officials.
