Can college debar students from placement due to short attendance

22-Aug-2023 (In Civil Law)
So when I was sitting for the briefing of my MBA college, they bragged about how they get 100% placements. Now for the past few years the college has been getting bad feedback or I don't know. It has been majorly due to lack of competency of the faculty, that is what the recruiters suspected. This year, when it is time for our batch's placements, they have suddenly introduced new rules which might debarr us from placements. Debar Rules: - If not attendance above 85% If SIP report not submitted If have not subscribed to aptitude sessions (Seperately payable & Bad quality of teaching- based on feedback from students doing it) and things like these I want to know whether a college really allowed to do that if they did not mention these placement eligibility rules or criteria during the time of admission?

in this case you need to go through the policy of the college and then you need to compare your case with that policy , if you think that any of your rights has been violated then you can file a writ in the high court for the infringement of your constitutional and fundamental rights.

No. The rules, laws, bye laws as mentioned in the information brochure when the student took admission in the college shall be applicable to the student. Any decision which is to the detriment of the student during the course of the programme can and should be challenged in the court and appropriate relief along with compensation shall be demanded by the college authorities

New rules initiated after the admission are challengeable and also the court will grant relief on this situation. In cases of such nature it is appropriate to have a look at the university rules combined
