Q: How to get legal aid in case of domestic violence and cruelty

A woman who can't afford legal help if a victime of severe cruelty by her husband and in laws. She has been thrown away from her matrimonial home and all attempts at reconciliation have failed. Her husband has even tried to starngulate her to death. She has married recently and got pregnant. When she finally mustered the courage to take legal course then nobody is helping her. Even the police is saying that the FIR will only be filed after an inquiry. Please help with what should be the next course of action and how can she can get a lawyer from legal service authority?
