Harassment of senior citizen by son/daughter in law

08-Jan-2023 (In Family Law)
I am a 70-year old male. My son and daughter-in-law (aged 42 years) who are living in Mumbai have been making demands for money regularly, even sometimes threatening me by SMS and phone calls. I had purchased a flat in joint names of myself and my son exclusively from my funds in 2007, which they are occupying. I am living alone in Delhi and have no connection with them. Besides meeting their demands for money periodically, I am also paying all the charges for the flat. Of late, their demands have increased and they are threatening me to involve me in some police case. I now want to get rid of my son and his family. Please advise how to go about it.

you can disown them by publishing the same through your advocate and can also make a Will in favour of some other person whom you want to give your property after your demise. About threatening you can submit a complaint to the nearest police station.

You will need to immediately file a police report against her and send her legal notice. Then, you can start legal proceedings. You need to initiate a civil court proceeding and get an injunction under Order 39 rule 1 as shes trying to seize the property.
