My sister is facing verbal abuse and financial problems from her in-laws. just wants to know what legal options do we have to avert this crisis amicably?

However, I would need few more details pertaining to the date of institution of the marriage, where they reside, how long has elapsed since the marriage, whether your sister is seeking on divorcing or whether she is residing separately etc. etc.
However, in this instance, she can immediately proceed to institute a case of Domestic Violence against her inlaws for harassement etc. She can also file for divorce under cruelty.

There are legal provisions in HMA , where you may issue them firstly Legal notice , thereafter, Domestic violence case .ay be filed where your sister .ay claim from her husband for financial support, Also for torture and harassment she should be suggested fir medical treatment proof if she is bitten now and then or even once. then she may opt for legal case u/ s 498A.
But before all you must issue a legal notice to in-laws and husband.

Hello, For any dowry demand or physical or mental harassment you can submit a complaint to nearest Mahila Thana in CAW cell, or you can file 498a FIR in same police station. 2nd option will be, filing Domestic Violence case against the husband and in -laws. Further more you can also file S125 Crpc for maintenance, and divorce as well. Each and every court is having mediation center to handle cases peacefully, so you can also avail this facility as well.
