frt is a final report in which the case is recommended to be closed against the accused. if you are an accused then unless the defacto complainant challenges that report and seeks a investigation you are not required to go to court to face trial. in case you are defacto complainant you can either choose to accept the report or make an application before the court under section 173(8) crpc seeking investigation.

The FRT full form in police terms is Final Report True. An FRT is submitted by the investigating officer when they find that the alleged incident occurred as reported in a proper manner. But if the investigation finds the accused is not responsible for the offense the report is termed Final Report False and it signifies the closure of the case without implicating the accused.

The FRT recommends closing the case against the accused. If you're the accused, you need not attend court unless the complainant challenges the report and asks for an other investigation. If you're the complainant, you can accept the report or request an investigation under Section 173(8) of the CrPC.

Answer: Final report true (FRT). When the investigating officer submits a police report that states the alleged incident occurred in a proper manner and mode, but the accused is not responsible for such an offense, this report can be considered final report false (FRT).
