Information about Missing Complaint

Need help understanding the procedure for filing a missing complaint. In case X a resident of say Kolkata has traveled to Bangalore and goes missing in Bangalore. Y who is aware about location of X and X goes Missing in Bangalore. Where does Y file a Missing Complaint? In Kolkata or Bangalore or both locations?
He can file a FIR at both the locations. However, it is advisable for Y to file a FIR in Bangalore where X got lost & parallelly, it is the duty of Y to inform the nearby Police Station where X's actual residence is, so that, both Police Stations by co-ordinating with each other help out Y to find 'Whereabouts of X.'

A missing report can be filed at either locations. Y should first approach the Kolkata police and report the last know whereabouts and detailed itinerary of X in Bangalore. Further Kolkata police should ideally forward the details to the nearest police station of X's location in Bangalore. Needless to state that the mobile phone details be shared forthwith to enable tracing X expeditiously. Preferably, recent photographs, copies of ID documents also be shared with the police and if possible, credit card/debitcard/bank details be also shared. Social media account details also are useful in tracing location.
