If I am in relationship with a minor is this a crime?

Hi sir im an mbbs graduate 22 years old in love with a minor girl 17 years old. We have met around 5 times with no intimate relationship. But we talk a lot over mobile for the past 1 year. Is there any law to put me in bars for this as a crime?

If you have physical relationship with any woman below the age of 16 years, them it is considered as a crime. Since the girl you love is a minor but above 16 years, any consensual relationship between you two will not be a crime. However it is advised to be precautious as any complain against you by her or her family may give rise to criminal proceedings against you.

It is important to know that sexual relations with a child (under the age of 18) are considered statutory rape in India and a criminal offence. If one of the partners has a criminal record, then it is possible that they could be prosecuted for sexual relations with a minor.
