You have not disclosed regarding the type of family settlement . Any document on stamp paper if duly signed by the parties in the presence of witness on any legitimate issue is valid before the eye of law. Mail the details for more details.

Family settlement depends on what kind of settlement it is without knowing the exact details it will be difficult for any lawyer to guide to the right path, yes you can very well do it on a non judicial stamp paper worth Rs.100.

First you decide how you settle your properties among yourselves. Then call a competent lawyer who will guide you properly. No stamp paper is required for the settlement before court. If it will be settled out of court then registration of partition deed with proper stamp duty is required.
