Can a registered Power of Attorney be cancelled?

made a registered power of attorney in favour of my wife who is now separated from me. Can i cancel the registered power of attorney from the same office where i made registration of power of attorney. Please guide me the detail procedure to revoke the registered GPA.

Cancellation of Registered Power of Attorney shall be in the following manner viz.,

a. By sending legal notice through Registered Post to your wife
b. By publishing the same in the local news paper to take additional precaustions to avoid abuse of power
c. By execution of cancellation of Power of Attorney before the jurisdictional sub registrar office. However, both parties should be present at the time of cancellation.

Exception: The cancellation of Power of Attorney cannot be cancelled in the event of interest created over the property from the power of attorney holder. Example: Execution of JDA or Sale Agreement with any third party in respect of immovable property.

you can revoke the GPA by executing Revocation of Power of attorney and registering it in the Office of the Sub-Registrar where GPA was registered. Two witnesses are required to the Revocation Deed. After registration you have to give notice of cancellation to your wife. Also advisable to give public notice in a daily news paper.
