Do daughters have right in mother's self acquired property

22-Mar-2023 (In Property Law)
My mother was a govt employee and she is still alive. Few years back my mother purchased land in my name with her earnings( i was major at that time and was studying my masters). The property got registered in my name only without mentioning my mothers name anywhere in the document. It was totally my mothers self earned money she had given to me. I have two sisters who is not in good relationship with my mother, now claiming that, they also want share in my land which my mother had purchased in my name. my question is do they have any rights to claim the share?

Absolutely not. But there is a small problem. You said it was land that she purchased in your name. Neither you being a student could have own earnings, nor your mother being government employee could without declaring the land to government ( rules of service require such declaration ) claim to be real owner of the property in question.
I can solve this matter and prevent claims of your sisters as well as future complications.

Dear Sir/Madam, you don't worry, once registered the property on your name it amounts to self acquired property of yours not your mother. Self acquired property holder is having rights as he/she likes to disposal the property. ... best of luck... kindly review my service it will be token of appreciation... by Chandrashekhar Vithal Jadhav, Advocate & Legal Consultant, Bangalore.

Hi,

You need not worry if the property is registered in your name and as per queries that your sisters are asking share in that seems inappropriate. However for further legal scrutiny ineed to see your registered document in respect of the said property. After going through the same, I can have a proper understanding of the subject matter. Please feel free to contact me. Thanks

sir, It is an admitted fact that the property purchased in your name by your mother. so, it is your mothers property as per your knowledge. You have stated that it is your mothers self earned property. so, your are a nominal owner on behalf of your mother. After death of your mother, your sisters can trouble for demanding shares. No one can suitably give proper opinion. so, it is better if a deed of confirmation to be executed by your mother.
