Yes, under the Hindu Marriage Act of 1955, a working wife can be ordered to pay alimony or maintenance to her unemployed husband in the event of a divorce. The act provides for both husband and wife to claim maintenance from each other if they are unable to support themselves after the divorce.

Section 25 of the Hindu Marriage Act states that either spouse, irrespective of gender, may claim permanent alimony from the other if they do not have the financial means to support themselves after the divorce. The court will consider several factors such as the financial status of both parties, their age, physical and mental health, and their ability to earn a livelihood while deciding the amount of maintenance to be paid.

Thus, a working wife can be ordered to pay alimony to her unemployed husband if he is unable to support himself after the divorce, provided that the court finds it necessary and appropriate under the given circumstances.

Under section 24 of Hindu Marriage Act, even a husband can claim alimony from his wife if his income is petty or is unemployed. However, if the man is an able bodied person capable of working and is not working only to evade maintenance then the court may deny maintenance to him.

No dear, nothing to worry about. No problem in Job and not required to pay any type of alimony. your mother have right to continue her job without any fear and there is no any provision that a wife give alimony to her husband due to her job and his unemployment. So be relax. If you or your mother get any frighten call or words from him than can make a police complaint against him.
