If you are major and don’t want to marry then no one can let you get married. It’s your choice to whom you want to get married. No one can stop you to get married to the girl of your choice. It’s your right to get married to the girl of your choice.

This has to be dealt with utmost sensitivity as the marriage is only a week away and if you get married to her contrary to your wishes then the marriage shall go down the drain leading you to the path of divorce and endless litigations. We shall speak with the girl’s family and council them to nullify the relationship from their end. You shall get in touch with me for further clarification.

if you do not wish to marry just tell your parents that you can't marry. no one can force you into a marriage. and if you are against dowry you can file a police complaint and tell them this is happening. once you get married there's no going back but file for annulment or divorce.

There is no legal impediment upon any citizen of india to become parent after marriage. However if one spouse is willing and the other refuses then the former spouse can file for divorce on the ground of cruelty. For any further legal assistance please feel free to contact

Dowry is an offence and the family receiving it as guilty as the perpetrators. You stood against the odds and that’s itself is applaudable, however if you want to put them to terms then there are certain aspects that you need to clear it to them else charges of dowry can be levelled against you and your family down the line. There is an option to your in-laws to gift the assets in your fiancé’s name and there are other remedies as per law. We shall discuss it in depth for your better understanding.

Any thing given by its own wish or will does not tantamount to dowry. Dowry as per law is the unlawful demand made by the in-laws. However as per your case it is not dowry. If you still assumes that your father has been forced or intimidated for being quite upon this, then you may with all your reasons may file a police complaint. For any further legal assistance please feel free to contact

In the given scenario, your father in law has given the gifts according to his own free will and the said gifts does not amount to dowry. If your father would have demanded the same from your father in law then in that case it would have tantamount to dowry and if you feel that your father forced your father in law then you can always file a police complaint against the said act.

Please feel free to contact for any further legal assistance.
