Beating for walking alone at night for no reason

Can some police officers beat an drunk guy walking alone at night. I found that very in appropriate & shame that Indore TI was involved in this thing. & They were also disturbing my parents
No a Police Officer can't beat anyone for any of the reason as per law, but this is done to safeguard the society as a whole. I do understand that sometimes the Police goes overboard and uses the power given to them contrary to law and because of which we are the one who suffers.
