How to deal with mental torture from husband

What can a wife do if her impotent husband is mentally torturing her?the wife cant divorce him as she s under extreme pressure from her family to avoid social humility and also since she is in her late 30's and not having children?

You can file a complaint Under domestic violence act against torturing behaviour of your husband. However there are some grounds for getting a divorce from your spouse. As you have mentioned in the query, you can file a divorce petition in the ground of impotency and cruelty. The impotency can be prove through medical examination certificates and cruelty can be prove by producing witnesses and some other records. The cruelty has two types 1. Mental cruelty 2. The best way is first of all don't lose hope and never think that you are alone as govt has various help lines and laws to protect women. you can file police complaint but it can increase chances of misunderstanding more. but if your life is at stake you can file police complaint . You can file complaint undr domestic voilence act 2005 to seek maintennace , protection , residence rights etc . You can also raise your matter in women commission and they will start counselling between both.
