Both parties are required to file admission/denial of documents, generally complainant files first followed by the opposite party. Each party is required to state whether the documents annexed by the other parties alongwith the complaint or the reply, as the case may be, are admitted as being true or denied as being untrue or inadmissible. The admitted documents are not required to be proved by the party adducing them and no question of authenticity of the said document can be taken up at a later stage.

Usually in Delhi district forum there is no such process, though this is a routine practice in civil courts. In Delhi, they evidence is by wayof affidavit. And if a party wants to cross the other, then by way of questionare, which will be answered on affidavit. No appearance of witness in person required. May I know which State you are talking about.
