Adding a door on the wall between two adjacent flats

15-Nov-2023 (In RERA Law)
Hi, After buying a property from premium builder like Prestige will I be able to modify the walls? We are planning to buy two flats adjacent to each other. So to connect the two flats, will Prestige allow us to add a door on the wall? Thanks, Vinod

Hi,
It depends on your agreement. Usually your sale deed or sale agreement will have a clause that states you cannot alter the premises. If the clause exists in any of your agreement I advise you not to go ahead with construction of the door.
If the clause does not exist consult the builder. Many builders will be against any kind of alteration to the premises, since these works can cause damage to the foundation of the building and incovience to other residents. In fact there are cases of resident owners objecting to such acts.
Your best option is to ask the builder himself to add the door, if he refuses please do not go ahead with the plan, sooner or later it will cause you trouble.

In your agreement if there is clause stating you can break modify the walls , doors etc then you can change. if there is clause you cannot change it , then you can't modify the wall. it depends on what agreement you are having will the builder.
