Bank is aking for revised PPO from Department

in my husband Office my name is mentioned as Renu (without Surname) as per service record. After my husband got expired in Sept 2025 I shared his Death Certificate with Bank (Bank shares it with Deptt). Deptt issued PPO in June 2026 (after 9 months) stating only my first name. Bank A/c is a joint account of my husband and myself which has first name & surname. From past 2 months bank is pressuring me to get revised PPO from husband Deptt containing surname also. Pls advise the solution.

You may seek a legal consultation for your ongoing issue. Do consult and brief him about the issue and get the papers legally perused. Get a letter issued to the bank manager to accept the affidavit and kyc and release the PPO. In alternative you may take legal route by complaining to RBI ombudsman

In your case you need to file for change of name and then ask the department to issue Part II order and thereafter get a revised PPO, though there may be another methods as well to get your pension by changing the name in your documents. You may contact us for a detailed analysis of your case

Since the PPO has already been issued in your name as “Renu”, submit a written representation to the concerned Department/PAO enclosing your Aadhaar/PAN, marriage proof, death certificate and joint bank account showing your full name, requesting correction/clarification of the PPO. Ask the bank to process the family pension meanwhile or give its objection in writing. The pension sanctioning authority/PAO is competent to issue the necessary correction/revised authority; the bank cannot itself amend the PPO.

Since your PPO mentions your first name as per your husband’s service record, the next step is to submit a written application to the concerned Department/Head of Office requesting clarification/correction of your full name in the PPO. Attach your PPO, death certificate, Aadhaar/ID and bank passbook showing your full name. Also ask the bank to give their objection in writing. Do not change your name or obtain a new name document.
