What does PO is Vacant in Case History mean?

07-Nov-2023 (In Family Law)
My mother has filed two cases on our father about a year back, one by Police under 494 and 498(a) for bigamy and other under DVC filed by the lawyer we hired. nnFor both the cases we see the updates in eCourts app for multiple dates recently in case history as as "PO Is on Vacant. Case is Posted To {DD.MM.YYYY}" or "PO Is Vacant. Case Is Posted to {DD.MM.YYYY}". {DD.MM.YYYY} is some date. nnWe weren't notified either by Police or by our Lawyer to attend the court for the above dates where we see this updates in case history. My question is: What does PO is Vacant mean? nnI know PO means Presiding Officer (the Judge) but to me it doesn't specifically mean that PO is on some kind of leave when it says PO is "Vacant". Does it mean that PO is not present due to some reason? Or does it mean that we've wasted PO time by not attending and so he was "Vacant"? I didn't find any answer for this "PO is Vacant" thing in Google search.

Hello, subject to the contents of your query, PO is vacant means the post of Presiding officer (judge) is vacant or not appointed, as far as your case is concerned if the concerned judge is not available then the matter can be taken over to another incharge judge. For more details contact me

What happens when judge is on leave?

Just like us, judges can go on holiday or become sick. It is common for their caseload to be transferred to someone else. Dont assume your matter will not be heard just because the judge is on leave.

What does PO on leave mean in court?

The judge is on leave when he is referred to as PO. When the judge returns from leave the case will then be heard at the next scheduled hearing date. The presiding officer is the judge.

What is short order PO in high court?

The Indian High Court advocates speak in their own language. P.O stands for pass over which means to adjourn from today/or a working day. L.O is last order. S.O is short order, or standing over (meaning put up for another date).
