Stopping child support after 18yrs

27-Feb-2025 (In Divorce Law)
Hello. As per court order my brother is supposed to pay child support (no alimony involved) till the child turns 18yrs, which he paying regularly. Once the child is 18yrs, can he stop paying this maintenance to the custodial parent and financially support the child directly? What steps are to be followed through the legal route? Thank you

No after the child attains the agr of 18 you can first seek custody of the child and if the court allows the custody of thr child to you only then you can directly take care of the child financially and other things as well but if the custody still remain with the mother them you have to pay untill the child is studying

Well, after the child complete 18 years of age, your Brother can stop paying Child Support. However, rather than replying upon your words, I need to see the Court Order by myself to give you proper legal advice

If the court order specifies child support payments until the child turns 18, your brother may be able to stop payments to the custodial parent at that point. However, whether he can pay the child directly depends on the legal framework in your jurisdiction. Some jurisdictions require continued support if the child is still in education or financially dependent. To make changes, he should file a petition in court seeking modification or termination of payments.

Hello After the age of maturity he can stop paying but need to support for education and for his other needs. He can open child separate bank account after his maturity also if he desire and put money in that for his all needs including educational expenses
