in this case the first thing is you have to engage a lawyer and attend the court, in court there will be conciliation by the court where the court tries to unite you or ask you both if this can be settled, if inspite of efforts put by court to unite you the efforts fail then a date will be given to you to reply to his petition where you can state the facts as per your version and denying the allegations made by him, you have to disclose all the facts to your lawyer who will prepare the reply and file, further if he is not providing any maintenance to you both you can file application for maintenance under section 24 of hindu marriage act or domestic violence act or under the new amended BNSS act.

you can send reply through lawyer seeking for alimony in case he wishes for divorce and if you are not willing to reside with him. Alternative you can file for conjugal rights if you like to reside with him. The contents of the notice must be seen to send proper response

Dear Madam, It is a failed marriage as such you may send reply through your Advocate stating that you wish to end the marriage but claim huge alimony for yourself and huge lumpsum maintenance for your daughter deny all the allegations made by him and putforth your allegations like cruelty and desertion and not caring the child etc.

You should defend your and child's interest even if you also need a divorce. Meanwhile you should see what allegations are there against you. What is his job and income? Are you also in job ? What child is doing now ?
