Hello, if you have lost any of your cheques with or without signature then it can be missus by anyone who can find it. So in this case of lost of your cheques you should immediately approach police station with an application with details of the cheques without delay when and how it lost and file one FIR for that. Only stopped payment will not solve the problem and can create The case of cheque bounce with a story.

Yes! you have to file a criminal complaint in your Jurisdictional police station. so police will enter NCR report even if someone misuse your cheque you will be having a defense, even if someone initiates case against you , you can file a injection suit against them

yes, both the options you can avail so that no one misuses the cheque. you should narrate the entire incident and thereafter give a written complaint to the police station and enclosing the police complaint you can inform the bank also to stop payment. otherwise anyone misusing the cheque can trap you.
