Q: What is the procedure of court marriage

what is the procedure for court marriage ? what are the documents required for that and how much time does it take to get the entire process completed ?

Procedure when both the parties are Hindu: 1. The parties have to file a notice of intended marriage in the specified form to the marriage registrar of the district in which at least one of the parties to the marriage has resided for a period of not less than 30 days immediately preceding the date on which such notice is given. 2. The notice is then published/put up inviting objections if any. 3. After the expiration of 30 days from the date on which notice of intended marriage has been published, the marriage may be solemnised at the specified office. 4. Both parties along with three witnesses are required to be present on the date of registration/Solemnisation. Documents required: 1. application form in the prescribed format with the prescribed fee. 2. passport size photographs of marrying persons 3. residential proof of marrying persons 4. date of birth of marrying persons 5. residential proof and PAN card of three witnesses 6. death certificate of divorce decree whichever is applicable, in case one of the parties had any marriages in the past. (There is a different procedure when parties belong to different religions)
