As a witness to a court marriage, your role is to testify to the authenticity and occurrence of the marriage ceremony. Your liability as a witness is generally limited to providing truthful testimony about your presence and witnessing the court marriage. Your responsibility does not extend to the issues or problems that may arise in the married couple's life or any subsequent legal proceedings.

In general, the liability of a witness in a court marriage is minimal. In being a court marriage witness problem of only a limited extent can arise. Your involvement is limited to the specific event of the marriage ceremony itself. Your role is not to be involved in any disputes or legal proceedings between the couple unless specifically called upon to provide testimony.

If a case is filed in court related to the marriage, you may be called upon as a witness to provide testimony about the court marriage ceremony and your presence during it. Your responsibility is to truthfully answer any questions regarding the marriage ceremony to the best of your knowledge.

If the girl is minor then the marriage is legally void and the criminal proceedings will be initiated against the bridegroom and all the person who had been a witness in the void marriage. Further, if the bride has lodged the complaint stating that the marriage is happened against her wishes then it will be a severe offence. Otherwise there is no liability on the behalf of witness.
