False case by principal against students what to do

The principal of our college fabricated a case against a few boys of my institution which was later proved fake in the presence of the Chairman of the college but he refused to take any action against the principal and hence the students went on a hunger strike and it's been 6 days now. i would like to know if something were to happen to the children then would the principal be held responsible? if yes by which act.
Legally u can sue him for defamation both under criminal and civil laws .u can prosecute him for causing defamation as well as u can sue him for compensation for causing defamation and for all this u should prove before the court that his actions was intentionally

Principal may be or may not be liable. It is depends on facts and circumstances. if any death happens, he may be prosecuted under section 306 IPC.

You can approach police station and give case for mental harassment and further more you can move the concerned high court and give publicity of the hunger strike and there are the chances that court move suo motto.
