Police asking for original documents in Drink and drive case

Actually my friends ask for a treat on the occassion of my birthday, i had one bear that day and police caught me for drink and driving case. They asked me to submit the original dl and rc book. I have rc book and xerox copy of dl. I dont have original dl, i lost it along with my wallet few months ago. Please suggest what i should do now.
yes original documents are required if the police has caught you in a drink and drive case or any other matter in that case. the police has the authority to check it.
