Send legal notice immediately, don't wait as he requested you, I., e for dragging the matter, once laps the cheque due date for sending legal notice , you never get one more cheque from him, consult and send notice and enjoy legal benefits.

First thing is whether you are eligible or not get issued a proper legal notice to his known address through a advocate within one month of return of the cheque. Second track it. Now have you paid to him by way of cash? or transfer, what was your source ? such things can be tackled later.

100 percent u have the right to sue him and it attract provision under 138 of negotiable act and insufficient funds is one of the reason to file case and further whatsapp is also considered a document and u can produce it in court and guilt will be proved so go ahead meet advocate since how u got so much amount first make paper to it
