Second marriage with girl belonging to other religion

29-Jan-2023 (In Muslim Law Law)

Me and my boyfriend are willing to marry. My boyfriend belongs to Muslim Religion and me to Buddhist. My boyfriend's parents didn't accept our relationship and they forcefully made him marry to the girl of their religion. Now he still wants to marry me. But I don't know what would be the procedure for doing marriage in this kind of complicated situation. I am ready to convert into his religion. Please help us, please give best suggestion. Thanks in advance.

First, your boyfriend will need to divorce his present wife before he can remarry. This process will take some time. Thereafter, you may marry under the Special Marriages Act without having to change your religion. Alternatively, you may convert to Islam and marry according to Muslim rites and ceremonies.
