Issues regarding mother in law

Hi, so my father in law passed away in sept 2019. This Jan onwards my relationship with mother in law is not good. My husband is supporting to her. Mother in law wants me and my husband to leave the current place and stay separate. The goa use at present we are staying is pagadi system and it’s on the name of my husband’s grandfather’s name. Also my mother in law got her own house at Vasai still she wants us to leave this place which m not agreeing with. As after my father in law the house should go for my husband’s name. I want to file complaint against her on police station also with our landlord? Can I?
you cannot file any complaint in any police against your mother in law or the landlord moreover you can claim your share of the ancestral property being yours husbands right in the property and if at all husbnad is not supporting you then you cannot do anything unless you are left alone by your husband

Sorry to know about your situation. In such a circumstances you may file a complaint under domestic violence Act against your mother in law and your husband if they have abused you. As for property dispute, your husband has a share in it and he has to follow a civil remedy.

Yes, you can lodge a Complaint with Police. But Police will merely register Non Cognizable Complaint. They will say, it is your family matter, approach Court and get it solved. So, in your case, you need to file a Private Criminal Complaint before Magistrate Court. Moreover, you can file a case for Mental Harrasment in Civil Court to seek compensation.
