In-laws are denying to give me back my jewelry, what should I do for ?

10-May-2023 (In Family Law)
I am a hindu girl. It's been around 4 years of my marriage now and my mother-in-law is not giving me back the jewelleries which she gave me at the time of marriage and took it back from me right after I entered my husband's house. Please tell me what should I do in this case. What legal actions I may go for?

Query perused. Whatever gifts or items you have received at the time of marriage or child birth from your in laws or relatives comes within the definition of Streedhan and you exclusively have the right over it. You can file a case under section 406 for breach of trust. Further you can file a petition under section 12 of the domestic violence act since it amounts to domestic violence. For further consultancy and legal services you may contact us.

Hello ma'am. I have perused your query. At the outset you can file a complaint for criminal breach of trust. Further, you can file an application in family court which will be treated as a plaint for the return of your jewellery. Please feel free to reach out to me in case you wish to discuss the matter in more detail.

Hi mam,
you have plenty of rights to exercise.
You may initiate a formal complaint, domestic violence (subject to attrocities committed upon you), Maintenance petition, further, you may seek prayer for compensation and alternate accomodation.

For more information feel free to have a word with us, all the very best.
