A 25yrs old Hindu girl getting married forcibly.

14-May-2023 (In Family Law)
Hi. A 25yrs old Hindu girl from Maharashtra getting married forcibly. 8 weeks ago she engaged a boy named Akshay due to her family pressure. But she doesn't want to get married to him. Then 5 weeks ago she ran away from her house. But her family got her back saying that they will break the marriage(& police helped to track her location). But after she came back home, her family didn't break the marriage and now they locked her in the house so that she won't go out until getting married. And as her father knows some police officers from the police station so she doesn't trust the police fully. because in the end, they will also help her father. She even talked to Akshay & his family but they also don't want to break the marriage. So is there any way for her to not get married & leave the house alone immediately? And if she reports on the Women Safety website online but the police ignore or just waste the time until she getting married, then what to do?

Nobody can be forced to marry a particular person. Forceful marriage of a girl is an offence in the eyes of the law. She should file a complaint before police and SP. If she is locked up then an application may be filed before magistrate u/s 97 CRPC...

She can file a domestic violence complain in the court and take protection order against his family. No one can do any kind of harassment thereafter. We can even complain to commissioner of police against the concerned police officials who are involved in this.

Well, She should share her Story on Facebook and other Social Media Platforms. She should write an Email to Police Commissioner,Chkef of National Women Commission, Call on the Women Helpline, appoint an Advocate on call to file her case in High Court against her Parents's forceful conduct to get her married against her wish.
