first step you have to file a written complaint at police. the next step file a complaint to dwo of collector office. After a detailed investigation the case shall be filed. in between you have to admit to the hospital for treatment Muralikrishnan Advocate

there is no time limitations to file domestic violence case. Your complaint is enough to file the case. Burden is on your husband to disprove. so don't think about evidence at all.
Make a complaint on your mother in law too. if you want more effective complaint, complaint through court.
