Am a widow... My inlaws are harrasing me...

Hello sir... Am 30 year old widow...my husband passed away due to cancer in November 2018.we have flat in name of my husband and me... My father in law had taken expenses of cancer treatment so now he is harrasing me to give the house and money spent on my husband.... I only have this house to stay... He had given some small amount fr down payment of flat.... But now he says he want it all... What should I do... Please suggest me something..
Hi, if you are a joint owner property will go in your name only. Your father-in - law cannot ask you to vacate the shared household. You can even file domestic violence case against your father in law and get a protection order from magistrate court so that he can not harass you either mentally or physically- Adv Ruchi Singh

file complaint/ petition under the provisons of Domestic Violence Act. You can get releif.so far as the flat is concerned yiu have remeady u/s 23. being a flat is in the joint name of you and your husband you have right to reside in the flat.

you may also proceed for declaratory suit before civil court for ownership of the flat
