Separated 2010 marriage not registered, do I need to file for divorce?
05-Oct-2023 (In Divorce Law)
I got married in 2008. it was a hindu wedding but, I did not get the marriage registered in the court or with the pandit. After 2 years, in 2010 we separated due to compatibility issues and have been living separately ever since. As per law, do I need to know for file for a divorce? If yes, then how quickly can we complete the procedure, what will be the expense I may incur and which court do I need to visit?
As per Hindu rites and rituals and as per Hindu Marriage Act marriage Certificate is not an mandatory provision. But at least you must have marriage pics and marriage card. Also you can file divorce case in family court if you are residing in metro region otherwise Civil Court senior division is having jurisdiction.
