rights of hindu wife over her husband and marriage if he remarries

18-Feb-2023 (In Divorce Law)
My husband left me a few years ago, without divorce or any financial/emotional settlement due to misunderstandings based on his relationship with a woman in his MBA college who was way too friendly with him, taking regular lifts from him and him visiting her alone very often.I was accused me of not trusting him enough. There was lot of physical abuse too. and on an SMS he said that he has gone away to generate some respect between us as only distance could do that. Now I came to know that he has married her and they have ten year old son and a daughter. He claimed it in an interview on a telecom website. He heads a multinational. Is it legal. can I fight that. Do I have any right.Or do I get protection from him as society troubles me a lot, being single.

Yes you have rights under the law because he could not have lawfully remarried another woman while subsistance of his marriage with you. You can file a range of litigations against your husband. He is liable to be prosecuted under the criminal law for his acts.

Thanks and hope this helps.
