On going 125 crpc cross examination

11-Feb-2025 (In Divorce Law)
In my cross examination (husband) the judge first asked both the lawyers if we agreed to compromise. Her lawyer said I didn't respond to compromise suggestion. Then he told my lawyer to file contempt petition. He said that openly before my cross examination and before the judgement. What could he be hinting at? Isn't it abnormal?

Dear I need to have complete information and facts of your case before advising anything. But through your query it is suggestive that the court trying to settle the matter and if you and other party is willing to do that you can proceed with the settlement before the court itself or through a mediation session.

Contempt petition for what? No Court can force compromise. While seeking compromise the court can just refer to mediation but the outcome of the same must not shift the fulcrum of the case towards any side. You can move a Writ Petition u/a 227 if the judge is acting illegally as mentioned by you.
