My wife filed maintenance on me, shall I buy bike and register on my name. Please suggest.

Greetings. Since maintenance petition under section 125 CrPC has already been initiated by your spouse against you, it is advisable Not to buy any asset during pendency of the petition. Avoid making purchases under your name and refrain from conducting any transactions through your bank account. It's advisable not to deposit money into your bank account as the court may request access to your bank transactions.

hope you must have engaged advocate to defend you case u/s 125 crpc he would be in better position to help you. but it is not suggested to buy bike in you name. it will increase you income and maintain may increase.

no you shouldn't as your wife can use it against you to show to the court that you are living a great life and you have better means. if you want to purchase a bike, purchase it either in the name of some other family member or if you want to purchase it in your name make sure your wife doesn't find out and use it against you in the court as while determining the amount of maintenance lifestyle is also considered. so be careful.
