Mutual/contested Divorce after 1 year of marriage

Can my husband force me to take a mutual divorce? I am a victim of domestic violence as well, left my matrimonial home since the past 3 months now..my husband is forcing me to take a mutual divorce. Religion- Christian; Duration of marriage- 1 year 5 months

Nobody can force you to take a divorce. Since you have been subjected to domestic violence you should file a complaint under the domestic violence act and seek maintenance and other reliefs like Return of streedhan, separate residence order etc..

No, nobody can force you to take a mutual consent including your or the spouse’s family members. If you have been a victim of Domestic violence, you should file a complaint for the same and act accordingly. You also have right to maintenance alongwith other rights which will go away once you go for mutual divorce. However, I need more details to assist you better

Mutual Divorce is when both the spouses [Husband and Wife] agree. No one has right take divorce by force.
You may approach the police for help or to seek the help of a Protection Officer, appointed by the government to assist victims of domestic violence.
