Is there any drawback to filing for divorce first as a man?

I have various proofs of cruelty by my wife. We were about to arrive on a consensus to file a mutual divorce, but now her family is silent and not proceeding further. I have to go for a job assignment abroad and the family probably thinks they just have to wait till I get desperate so that they can get some more benefits from me. If I file divorce by myself, is there a drawback in terms of more maintenance for wife? Both of us earn well enough.
hello sir as per your question, I would like to suggest you to file divorce case as it will take some time to get concluded. Your wife has all the right to claim for maintenance, all though that can be get negotiated by putting up the point that she is also earning well. on the above mentioned query the legal opinion is that if both are well qualified and earn well separately then the wife can't get maintenance from her husband.
next you can file divorce on the ground of cruelty but please ensure the proof of cruelty before filling the case .

See, if the divorce is done by mutual consent then it will be very good but if such a thing does not happen then you will have to work through the correct process and for this you will need a good lawyer. If the work is not done properly then you can go from mediation to High Court. This process has to be fought till the end. Contact for more information.
