After their divorce of your parents do anyone of them ceased to be your parent i,e father and mother except they ceased to be spouses any more .So your origin do not change.Previously also your mother was your natural guardian and after divorce with your father she will be the same the situation do not change. Therefore ur caste of gen can never be changed to obc . In our patriarchal society we adopt our father's origin .

Caste is determined or defined by birth. You rightly know that your father's caste is your caste. It is unchangeable. Caste is not change by marriage, conversion or anything like that. Both of your parents are your natural guardians. You are a major person so you need not any guardian. I think you want to say that you are intending to show your mother as your dependent in service records.

I believe that OBC certificate can be available to someone whose father, brother, sister or any other blood relative is a OBC certificate holder and that too only from the parental side. Else this wont happen.
