How to reconcile with husband after husband files divorce petition

26-Aug-2023 (In Divorce Law)
Me and my husband have married for 5 years but he was working abroad but due to my verbally abusive father-in-law I live in my home when husband goes back with the consent of my husband. My husband came back this year and called me but I wasn't well and asked him to wait till am better he visited me and also had relationship with me after 2 months he filed for divorce on mental cruelty and desertion. I tried talking to him but now adamant on divorce and have stopped all contacts. We have a child. I have applied for maintenance. They are adamant on divorce but I dont want one I need my family. Our family issues are because of my inlaws control on every matter. My Father-in-law have kept asking dowry and verbally abuse me and my parents. I don't have any proof what should I do? I want to save my marriage.

Dear Madam, You have to file multiple cases against your husband and his family members to bring them under control. Further you may try for mediation and ask the Court to award interim maintenance by filing application under Section 125 of Cr.P.C. On the first day of filing the Court ia bound to award interim maintenance.

Saving your marriage means denying your husband a divorce easily. If you are already having an advocate a would have told you the legal aspects of the strength of that case filed by your husband. You can contact me if you are not having a advocate defending your divorce case.

If you want to save the marriage from divorce, you can make a settlement outside court or compromise with certain terms of the husband. You can file for Restitution of Conjugal Rights, just defend the divorce proceedings that you do not want divorce.
