Guidance on Retrieving CNR No and Proceeding with Divorce case

08-Mar-2025 (In Divorce Law)
I filed for divorce two years ago, but we reached a compromise during the withdrawal process. However, after that, my husband started domestically abusing me again. Now, I want to apply for divorce again, but my advocate has lost my CNR number. She says she missed it. How can I retrieve my CNR number? Should I proceed with the divorce case using the same number, or do I need to file a new case?

If your earlier divorce petition is withdrawn, then you can not reopen the same. But it is for good. Because, now you will have more facts to add, including the fact that your husband convinced you to withdraw the earlier petition under the pretext of reunion and later he continued his abusive behavior. You can file a fresh petition for divorce.

yesyou can file a new divorce petition or request the court to reopen a dismissed case based on a change in circumstances, even after a settlement or dismissal due to a temporary reconciliation, if the relationship has again broken down with detailed explanation

Dear Madam, The facts given in your query is not sufficient. what is your case number and in which court have you withdrawn the matter? that alone matters and cnr number search is not needed. cnr number is usually not an issue for filing divorce. thanks.
